Plywood and panel manufacturing are facing difficulties in the supply of formaldehyde due to the closure of several formaldehyde processing plants in the north. Formaline prices have increased in North India due to this crisis. Formaldehyde prices have reportedly risen by more than 40 percent. According to the report received, a month ago, formaldehyde prices were around Rs 12, which is said to be around 18 forms now. Plywood manufacturing units in North India have a negative impact on both raw material availability and input costs. The ongoing crisis is so entangled that associations, authorities and formaldehyde manufacturers are all actively trying to find possible solutions.

The recent raids by pollution control board officials against unauthorized formaldehyde manufacturing factories in Yamunanagar are believed to be the root cause of the current crisis. In connection with the environmental clearance case, factories in Yamunanagar are constantly being sealed by the authorities, leading to a game of accusation. In addition, formaldehyde manufacturers, whose plants have been sealed, recently held a meeting with Cabinet Minister of Haryana Government Mr. Kanwar Pal in the presence of officials of the Pollution Control Department. HPMA was represented by Mr. Satish Chopal, Vice President, Mr. Shiv Kumar. After the meeting, Mr. Satish Chopal issued a note saying that the Minister discussed the matter with the CM and until he obtained the necessary permission as had happened in Rajasthan,

The note issued by HPMA also stated that the incident of blackmailing by other units which have not been sealed, also informed the CM about the owner along with the name of the firm. “Hopefully this request will be accepted by CM soon.” Things will be back to normal soon. ” Do not panic purchase of raw materials at high rates as stated in the note. The association will soon discuss the matter, boycotting all Formaline units engaged in future black marking, pooling, and cartels.

Factories that run without environmental clearance were chilled about a month ago, when about 7 factories were sealed. A total of 9 factories are running in Manikpur, Jathalana, Radaur and Chhacharauli in Yamunanagar district in Haryana. The closure of the formaldehyde plant in Yamunanagar has led to a spurt in prices across North India, as plywood manufacturers based in Yamunanagar have started buying from plants elsewhere.

HPMA President Mr. JK Bihani said that formaldehyde is the most important raw material to make glu for plywood and laminate. If formaldehyde factories do not start immediately, this will affect the plywood and laminate factories. Currently, the price of formaldehyde is Rs 19-20 per kg, which was Rs 12 to 15 kg and its price increase has affected the feasibility of plywood manufacturing cost. Industry sources say that if formaldehyde prices are not immediately reduced, North India-based industries will be forced to raise prices of finished goods.
